The return of a legendary Lancia LC1

Pubblimais is not only known for its faithful paintwork of historic rally and racing liveries, crafted using the same artisanal methods used in the racing era.
In specific cases, our Company is also commissioned to handle the stages prior to creating a vehicle's final livery: removing existing graphics, completely restoring the fiberglass or sheet metal car body, preparing surfaces by correcting defects and irregularities, painting the car white (or base color), and inserting distinctive elements (grilles, gaskets, air intakes, etc.) found on cars that have competed in a specific race and whose exact configuration is to be replicated.
For these demanding and lengthy phases of the process, Pubblimais relies on the assistance of trusted, highly experienced classic body shops and plays a key supervisory role in establishing guidelines (colors, type of restoration, areas to be painted externally and internally, elements and accessories to be added), frequently checking progress, and ensuring that the pre-established objectives are achieved.

The complete restoration of the legendary Lancia LC1 Gr. 6 Martini Racing - chassis #002 - winner of the 1982 Nürburgring World Sportscar Championship - represents one such specific case.
In accepting this assignment, we felt the weight of responsibility of undertaking a major task, because cars like this represent a collective heritage of absolute value, and their full recovery deserves to be shared with the entire industry. The responsibility we felt spurred us to thoroughly research the project and to face with unwavering determination all the obstacles that we obviously knew would stand between us and the final result we desired. Although we've always been fortunate to frequently work on cars that have written racing history, and thus to develop a certain knowledge and confidence in handling and managing this type of work, it's been very important from the beginning to maintain an attitude of great humility and attention to detail, without taking anything for granted: too much confidence can lead to even a single mistake that could compromise the entire process.

Now that we've reached the end of this long journey, we're thrilled to share with all enthusiasts the images of what can, without exaggeration, be described as one of the most important restorations of recent decades. The photographic documentation that will be published is the result of a selection made from thousands of photos taken over many months, and the commitment and time required to take these photos were very high since at times we found ourselves having to slow down or reschedule some phases of the process in order to be able to document certain moments while still respecting the deadlines for the more delicate phases of the process, such as painting.
